THE ENCOURAGER

Years ago while I was going through a difficult time in my life I began to journal on the feelings, thoughts, and special words of encouragement that carried me through. Since then, I have been able to share some of those important insights with others, going through similar trials in their lives. Today I am choosing to share these insights with you as you face your own set of trying circumstances. I encourage you to fight the good fight and never give up hope. During times of hardship, discouragement, illness, loss, fear and worry it can be hard to take life one minute at a time, let alone one day at a time!

I recommend that you read The Encourager only one day at a time. This allows you time to really think about each day’s message and reflect on what is being said. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you additional insight and to show you how the message for the day applies to you personally. Believe God for the deeper work. There is a treasure beneath the surface if you will take the time to look for it. Don’t just read the message; apply it. I realize that you may be uplifted by the daily message and eager to move ahead to the next day, but rushing through the days will not bring about transformation in our lives. When we rush ahead without reflecting on what we have read, we don’t allow the Lord to use the message to minister to us. We become hearers only and not doers of the word.

I use a lot of scriptures. Memorizing scripture is an excellent way to change your life by the renewing of your mind. Memorizing scripture causes us to meditate on the Word of God. The Bible says you are to meditate on God’s Word day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Some readers print each day and then place it in a notebook. This is a great idea! Their notebooks provide an excellent place for their notes, insight, thoughts and goals.

In the days ahead, you will find pages from my journals, letters I have written to others, words that the Lord has given me for you and much, much more. I pray for the deeper things of God in your life. I pray the hidden treasure within each day’s message will empower you to take the better way. I pray you will be strengthened and encouraged.
